These terms and Conditions may vary from time to time. China Expedition Tours reserves the right to modify or rescind the terms and conditions in whole, or in part at any time with or without notice. If they are revised, we will post the revised version on this site. Please re-read these terms and conditions even if you have previously used this site. If you purchased any China Tour services, the terms and conditions of China Hotel and China Flight together shall constitute the entire understanding between you and China Expedition Tours relating to your China Tour.

Price Description Note :
(1) Vehicle and driver
If you book Private Tour with China Expedition Tours, all the guide and vehicle transfer service are privately for you, your family or your friends. No other participants will be in your group. If you choose Join-in Tour or Seat-in-Coach Tour, you will share one coach and guide with other travelers.
(2) Entrance fees
Entrance fees for all the sightseeing listed in each program are based on the rate of 2010, which are subject to change. If the entrance fees for the places to be visited are raised in 2011, China Expedition Tours will adjust our selling price accordingly.
(3) Meals as listed
For the land tour in each city, daily American breakfast is served in hotels in most cities except some remote areas where only Chinese breakfast is available , and Chinese lunch and/or dinner will be served with one cup of soft drink or beer; Domestic train of soft seat or soft sleeper as listed are included unless otherwise stated; in restaurant.
(4) Tour guide
Local English-speaking guide (or other languages on request).
(5) Transfers
Transfers for you and the group between airports, hotels and all sightseeing spots. Separate arrivals and departures will incur extra charges.
(6) Accommodation
The hotel accommodation is based on two people sharing one standard twin room. If a single room is requested, the single supplement will be charged.
(7) Domestic flight and train tickets
The economy-class airfare of China flights as specified in the itinerary and airport tax & fuel surcharges are included. Domestic train of soft seat or soft sleeper as listed unless otherwise stated.
(8) Service charge & Government taxes
Service charge, government taxes and the city construction fees are included.
(9) Cruise
The cruise accommodation is on double occupancy basis. The price includes the accommodations, daily meals and scheduled shore excursions.
(10) Tibet Travel Permit
The Tibet Travel Permit fee is included if your itinerary includes Tibet.

( Yangtze Cruise )

Include :
(1) Cruise accommodation
The cruise accommodation is based on two persons sharing one cabin with private facilities in all relevant locations. If a single client requests a cabin alone, the single cabin supplement will be charged.
(2) The cruise shore excursion in groups and daily activities .
These activities are subject to the arrangements made by the cruise company and subject to change without prior notice.
(3) Food & beverage
On the cruise daily American breakfast, Chinese lunch and dinner are served. The beverage arrangements are subject to policies of different cruise companies.

Exclude :
(1) Service fees, charges for optional incidentals
(such as telephone calls ,laundry ,or drinks on the cruise ) The lodging will assess these fees, charges, and surcharges upon check-out .
(2) Cruise deposit upon check-in.

( China Train )

Include :
Train ticket fare.

Exclude :
Food & beverage on the train ,train station pick-up service(unless otherwise required.)

( China Hotel )


Include :
Accommodations .Usually a buffet breakfast is included unless otherwise stated . The prices stated are on per room, per night basis.

Exclude :
(1) Personal expenses (such as room service, minibar snacks, laundry, telephone calls…etc). Such fees will be charged when you check-out.
(2) Hotel deposit upon check-in.

Booking Procedure & Policy: 

We understand that some of you may have to cancel your trip to China for certain reason. Therefore if you wish to cancel your booking with us we need to receive your request in written form, and all vouchers or tickets returned to us. However, not all bookings can be cancelled and cancellation fee will be added. Please refer to the Rules and Restrictions at the time of booking.

( China Tour )

China Expedition Tours is pleased to let you know our booking procedure and policy before you book a China tour with us.


(1) Upon receiving your enquiry, a China Expedition Tours travel advisor will be assigned to communicate with you via email to build your travel plan according to your requirements and interests, and let you know everything concerned with the tour. When there comes an agreement on the tour itinerary and other related matters, a 20% (of the total tour price) deposit will be requested to pay.
(2) Upon the receipt of the deposit from you, we'll secure your reservation and process your final booking immediately. (Our average deposit amount is 20% of the total price, but it is subject to change. It could possibly be higher or lower depending on your booking time, group size and the actual itinerary, etc. Your personal travel advisor will adjust the amount accordingly.)
(3) It is highly suggested that you make your reservation of a tour 30 days prior to the actual traveling date.
(4) When your booking is confirmed, we will send you a confirmation letter via email informing you all the details. If any conditions should change after the confirmation, China Expedition Tours reserves the right to make changes and provide you with the similar alternative options.
(5) For those who have paid the deposit, final payment is due 30 days prior to the starting date of your tour.
(6) For reservations made within 30 days of the starting date of the tour, a full payment by credit card is required.

We understand that some of you may have to cancel your trip to China for some certain reasons. All cancellation requests must be received in writing via our email or fax. The following is our cancellation fee schedule, which is based on a percentage of the total invoice. The effective date is the date on which the written cancellation notice is received by e-mail or fax.

Yangtze River Cruise fare can’t be refunded if you cancel within 35 days before departure. No-show travelers will be charged 100% of the full payment, If a traveler cancelled while a tour is in progress, unused services can't be refunded.If a traveler missed any programs because of early departure and late arrival, unused services can't be refunded.

( China Cruise )

The payment for the Yangtze River Cruise can not be refunded if the cancellation notice is received less than 35 days prior to the date of the cruise.

( China Flight )

The cancellation policy varies by different Airline Company. Please read the "Rules & Restrictions"of different flights when you make the reservation. Airlines will charge a cancellation fee when you cancel your booking. Some discount tickets are completely non-refundable.

( China Train )

Once the train ticket is issued, it CANNOT be cancelled. If you cancel your booking, there will be 100% cancellation charge.

The cancellation fee will be calculated as follows:

Within 15 days 100% of total cost

This is ONLY applicable to China domestic trains. The trains to Hong Kong have special policy for cancellation. Please confirm the booking details with your travel advisors.

Alteration of Itinerary : 
If you change your itinerary

Alternations to your itinerary before confirmation are processed free of charge. We always intend to provide the best tour possible for you. If you want to change some details of your itinerary such as adding scenic spots, revising your daily schedule or changing to a new hotel after confirmation, we will do our best to help after we check the possibility and availability. Since accommodation is reserved from several months to several weeks in advance, we cannot guarantee all your request can be satisfied. You are required to pay an extra cost if your new request is received.

If we change your itinerary

We aim to provide accommodation for you as booked, but sometimes we do have to make changes:

a. If events that is out of our control happen, such as war, fire, epidemics, health risks, hurricanes and other actual or potential severe weather conditions…etc, we have to change your itinerary . You will have to pay the extra cost if there is any price difference.

b. If any extra fees caused by third parties such as cruise operators, airlines and hotels, you should pay the extra cost.

c. China Expedition Tours reserves the right to modify the itinerary of the tour if air schedule or land transportation changes, and/or events beyond our control make such alteration necessary.

Payment Guide:

For the convenience of our clients, China Expedition Tours accepts various payment methods:

•    Option 1: Wire Transfer (Regular Bank Transfer)

•    Option 2: Paypal (with or without a Paypal account)

•    Option 3: Credit Card (authorization letter by fax or email)

•    Option 4: Western Union Transfer

* Important note about the exchange rate:

(1) Reference exchange rate: please refer to Band of China Exchange Rate.

(2) The default currency we use to quote is US dollar. Please use the Currency Converter to see the equivalent quote in your currency. The quote is subject to slight change due to the fluctuation of the exchange rate and other reasons caused by the third parties.

Please write your travel advisor's name on the postscript when you transfer the money.
It may take 5 days to 3 weeks for the wired payment to reach us. So we do not accept wire transfer payment if you confirm the booking and pay us less than 20 days prior to your arrival date.

Option 3: Pay by Credit Card Authorization Form

China Expedition Tours accepts credit card payment with authorization letter by e-mail or fax. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express Card, but not debit card.
Right now, we do not provide online credit card payment. Instead we prefer authorization email or fax because it is safer.

Three Steps to complete the credit card payment authorization:
Step 1: Fill out the Credit Card Payment Authorization Form with your VALID credit card information (card type, number, card holder's name, billing address and card holder's signature, etc.)
Step2: Email us a photo shot or fax the completed Credit Card Payment Authorization Form to us at: +86 773 5858316.
Important Note: As the bank needs a clear photocopy of the two sides of your credit card to complete the authorization process, we recommend you to scan the two sides of your credit card or use digital camera to take the photos, and email us the digital image files. Fax is also acceptable, however, it may cause delay or re-fax due to possible unclear images. If such circumstances occur, your understanding and cooperation would be needed and highly appreciated.
Step 3: After we receive your authorization documents, we will acknowledge the receipt by sending you an email, and then we will send it to Bank of China which will help us get your payment from your credit card issuing bank.
Important Note:
1) It is now not allowed for us to charge in foreign currencies. Credit card payments charged in CNY are based upon the prevailing rates in China. Your card issuing bank will debit you in local currency and China Expedition Tours will have no control on the rate of conversion used by your card company.
The result is that the amount charged from your credit card might be slightly different from the amount on the credit card authorization form.
2) We do not accept credit card payment if you confirm the booking and pay us less than 20 days prior to your arrival date. In this case the only way to pay us is by Western Union service.
3) If you choose to pay with credit card and if you book a packaged tour, China Expedition Tours will bear the credit card processing fee (approximately 3% of the total payment).

Luggage Allowance : 

Domestic flights
In accordance with regulations of the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, the free baggage allowance within China is 20kg for the economy class, 30kg for the business class, and 40kg for the first class, plus limited carry-on luggage. Excess baggage charges are the sole responsibility of the client. Regulations within China specify that all suitcases must have a locking device attached. Failure to follow this regulation may result in refusal by airport staff to load suitcases onto the aircraft.

Travel Documents : 

All clients must be in possession of a valid passport which must have at least six months of remaining validity and necessary visas or permits at the commencement of travel. All such documentation in hand is the sole responsibility of the client. Your travel advisor may assist you in applying for the necessary travel documentation upon request. China Expedition Tours is not reliable for your failure to obtain appropriate documentation.

As Tibet has unique geography,climate,religion and traffic considerations, it has not been fully opened to foreign travelers. Travelers must obtain a Tibet Travel Permit before travelling to Tibetan areas. Travelers must obtain Tibet Travel Permit before buying plane or train tickets. Our travel advisors will arrange an itinerary for you and assist you to get such permit.

All kinds of people can get Tibet Travel Permit from our travel service except diplomats,journalists and government officials. These people should travel to Tibet under the arrangement by the Foreign Affairs Office of Tibet local government.

Health Requirements : 

There are lots of international travel risks while traveling. Travelers should be familiar with the applicable health requirements to the areas they intend to visit. It is your solely responsibility to check the safety and security conditions, vaccination, and other health requirements of governments in countries visited or transited. Altitude sickness may develop in travelers who ascend rapidly to altitudes greater than 2500 m. When you travel to Tibet or parts of Sichuan and Yunnan Province of China,make sure your blood pressure and heart condition is normal. A doctor's certificate is required if you will go to Tibet.

Complaints and Claims: 

If you have a complaint about the service China Expedition Tours provided, please immediately notify the local guide and contact your travel advisor. We will notify the local supplier of such complaints to avoid the possible similar problems happening again during your trip.

If you are still not satisfied and wish to claim for compensation,you must sent the letter of claim by email, fax or regular mail within 15 days from the end of your tour to allow your complaint to be investigated properly. Relevant receipts and substantiating evidence must be attached to the letter of claim. China Expedition Tours will not be liable for any claims made later than 15 days after the completion of your tour.


When you travel in China with us, you are offered a complementary travel insurance program by China Expedition Tours which is known as Travel Agencies' Liability Insuranc, a policy regulated by the China National Tourism Administration. This insurance covers any unexpected accidents occurring during the tour activities arranged by a travel agency with maximum coverage of RMB 200,000/person. However it does not cover any other physical problems occurring outside the guided tour period or caused by clients themselves rather than accidents caused by tour activity while in China. Therefore we strongly recommend you purchase necessary travel insurance for overseas trip in your home country before departure in addition to what we can offer here.

Our Responsibility & Liability: 

The responsibility of China Expedition Tours' agents, parent company and affiliated companies is strictly limited. As a tour operator, we organize, promote, and sell tour programs consisting a good range of services, including guide service, ground transportation, air transportation, water transportation, excursions and accommodations that we purchase or reserve from various suppliers. The suppliers providing services for our tour programs are independent contractors and they are not agents or employees of ours.

To the extent that we are involved in booking air and/or cruise transportation for you, we act as your agent and not as an agent for the airline and/or cruise companies. However, we promise that we are responsible for the willful or negligent acts of our partner travel agents for the land services.

China Expedition Tours will take all benefits and all losses of any fluctuations, lower or higher in airfares, cruise fares, currency devaluation, park fee increases, taxes, or fuel surcharges after we have received the full payment from you. And we reserve the right to correct promotional or pricing errors or to increase the tour price in the event of cost increases due to changes in airfares, cruise fares, currency devaluation, park fee increases, taxes, or fuel surcharges before we receive your reservation deposit.

China Expedition Tours reserves the right to accept or reject any person as a tour participant, to expel any tour participant from the tour, to make changes in the itinerary whenever we deem it necessary for the comfort, convenience, or safety of the other tour participants, or to cancel a tour at any time. We will refund any unused fund to tour participants.

China Expedition Tours reserves the right to substitute hotels, flights, or cruise ships, to alter itineraries, or to cancel the tour prior to departure.


China Expedition Tours shall not be liable for any loss, injury, or damage to person, property in connection with climatic conditions, fire hazard, breakdown of machinery or equipment, acts of government or other authorities, wars whether or not declared, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, terrorist activities, or any other actions, omissions or conditions beyond our control. Neither China Expedition Tours nor any of its affiliates or subsidiaries shall be or become liable or responsible for any additional expenses of liability sustained or incurred by the tour member as a result of any of the aforementioned causes.

Absolute Chin Tours shall not be responsible for any wrongful or negligent acts, omissions, or the failure of any equipment operated by any suppliers such as transportation carriers, cruise, and hotels, or any other party not directly owned or controlled by China Expedition Tours.

China Expedition Tours is not responsible for a client's failure to comply with customs regulations.China Expedition Tours is not responsible for the theft or lost of any customer's valuables or items of personal property due to the negligence of the customer.
