Day 1: Beijing-Shanghai

As soon as you arrive in Shanghai, our guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Welcome to Shanghai.

Day 2: Shanghai

Today after enjoying a leisurely breakfast, we will head for the[Yuyuan Garden] where you may find more delicate handicrafts and tasty Chinese snacks. Also a visit to the [Jade Buddha Temple] will be included. It is an elegant structure famous for its Buddha statue which is carved of solid white jade and decorated by jewels. At noon, we will have lunch at a famous local Shanghai restaurant. After lunch our guide will take you to the[Outer Bund] for a grand view of Shanghai and you may marvel at how modern this metropolis is while still containing its old traditions. Nearby, the [Nanjing Road] is the most prosperous commercial street. You can find lots of world famous brands setting along the street and enjoy a good time in shopping.

Day 3: Shanghai

Enjoying a reputation as "exposition of architecture of the world", Shanghai display elegant appearance of architecture in various style. There are building of Gothic style, Romanesque style, Baroque style and other building combing Chinese and western style. This morning we will pay a visit to [Shikumen Area], emerging from the traditional quadrangular courtyard in Shanghai. When it appeared, it is in traditional wood structure and bricks with the frame of door made of stone materials. This kind of building mixes together Chinese and western art, having a deep influence in Chinese architecture history. Shikumen building began popular in the early twenties century. More than three quarter of local people lived in that kind of building. Until now there are still many citizens living in Shikumen building. We will enjoy a leisurely walk in that area, you may not only appreciate the traditional architecture, but also feel the daily life of the local people. A cruise on the Huangpu River is recommended, where you are able to see wonderful night views of the bright city.

Day 4: Shanghai-Zhujiajiao-Zhouzhuang-Shanghai

[Zhujiajiao ancient town],  an ancient town with a long history, was a bazaar in Song and Yuan Dynasty. Today we will drive there to have a walk. The crystal water and run through the town with 39 bridges connecting the nine old streets, forming a graceful water village scene. The north street still keeps its style of Ming and Qing Dynasty, displaying a picture of prosperous ancient commerce background in front of you. Local snacks are delicate and delicious, you can choose to try. After lunch, we will continue to [Zhouzhuang]. It is one of the most famous water townships in China, only 30 kilometers (18 miles) southeast of Suzhou. It is noted for its profound cultural background, the well preserved ancient residential houses, the elegant watery views and the strong local colored traditions and customs. It abounds with rivers and lakes. We will enjoy a leisurely afternoon walking around. Stone bridges and overhanging towers span the waterways to provide free passage for the local people. The murmuring streams under small bridges and dwelling quarters with delicate courtyards are the distinct features of Zhouzhuang, now rarely seen in the whole of East China. We will drive back to Shanghai later this evening.

Day 5: Shanghai-Pinghu-Shanghai

Today we will drive to Pinghu city to visit the [Mo's Park], a large scale ancient residential area. This residence has a total of 77 rooms and a total area of 2600 square meters (about 0.6 acres). It belonged to Mo Fangmei and his family in the Qing Dynasty. Mo's Park is a classic of Chinese ancient residential complexes of the southern region. Its design is small, elegant, and sophisticated. Ancient red wood furniture comes from the Qing Dynasty. The entire park is filled with dark paint, white walls, and colorful ridges of houses. Wandering in this graceful park may give you a feeling that you are travelling in the past. Late the day we will drive back to Shanghai.

Day 6: Shanghai-Beijing

After breakfast ,we will visit [Oriental Pearl TV Tower ] .It is the tallest TV tower in Asia and the third highest in the world, next to the 553, 33-meter-high Toronto Tower Canada and the 533-meter-high TV Tower in Moscow, Russia. Towering in Pudong Park in Lujiazui, it has been the symbol of Shanghai, consisted by 15 spheres of different size at different levels. The tower might bring to your mind an old famous poetic line-- "large and small pearls dropping onto a jade plate". After lunch we will drive to the airport for a pm flight to Beijing.
