We were on a cruise excursion to see this wonderful, historic, interesting water town. It took about 1 1/2 hours by bus from the pier outside of Shanghai to this town. We enjoyed seeing all the locals, other Chinese tourists, and ourselves all being absorbed by the sights and sounds of this unique place. Yes, the streets are narrow and very crowded. We regret that our time here was so short and we couldn't really peek into the many small stores. Lots of store vendors were cooking foods and they all did smell delicious! We also photographed as many of the bridges as we could. Would we recommend this town to visit: definitely! We realize there are other water towns but this one was interesting for our very first time to China!
