Harbin Northern Forest Zoo boasts the biggest zoo in China. The zoo is in a beautiful environment and with lush vegetation with forest coverage rate amounting to 95.8%.The zoo is divided in two area by Mjijagou River: South and North Area. The South Area is for preyers, pheasants, water fowls, singing birds and small animals. The North Area is dedicated to herbivorous animals.
Northern Forest Zoo is the home for more than 240 kinds of animals and birds with a total amount of more than 5,000.You will be taken back by the numbers and varieties. There are more than 20 animal houses in the zoo for different animals including tiger, panda, peacock, monkey, rhinoceros, elephant, hippo and giraffe etc.
The zoo actually has a long history. It used to be park in the 1950s.In late 1950s, animal houses were built and the park turned to a zoo gradually. On New Year Day in 1959, it took the official name as Harbin Zoo. In 2004, Harbin Zoo was moved to Pigeon River Area with a total area of 848 hectares. And It was renamed as Harbin Northern Forest Zoo and open to public in Septemper, 2004.

Transportation: Take Shuttle Bus (available between 7:00-10:00AM)at Harbin Railway Station, which will be back between 14:00-16:00PM.
