Five Old Men Peak is located in the southeast of the Lushan Mountain, next to the Poyang Lake in the east, with an altitude of 1,358 meters. It is towering against the sky at the Poyang Lake with lofty precipice stretching miles away. Thus it stands out among the many peaks of the Lushan Mountain. Looking up from the Haihui Temple at the foot of the mountain, the peaks look like five wise old men sitting in a row. Thus it was called Five Old men Peak. Seeing from the top of it, there is splendid view of sunrise. If it is foggy, people even can hear "the sound of fog".
Five old men was said to be five gods in charge of different colors(black, red, yellow, white and blue),elements(gold, wood, water, fire and earth) and directions(east, south, west, north and middle).Wulao Temple was built to worship these five gods.
Viewing from different directions, you can see different shapes of the peaks. Some look like yelling warriors, some look like fishing man and other resemble sitting monk. The view is especially vivid seen from Haihui Temple. The third peak is most precipitous with gorgeous stones and splendid view; the fourth peak is highest with twisted pines at the top. And there are 5 tiny peaks beneath including Lion Peak (Shizifeng), Golden Mark Peak (jinyinfeng), Stone Boat Peak (shijianfeng), Floating Clod Peak (lingyunfeng) and Flag Pole Peak. Then they are followed by Guanyin Cliff, Lion Cliff. In the back of valley stands Qinglian Temple.
In the eat of Five Old Man Peak is three-fold spring, in the southwest is Lushan Pine and Haihui Temple is located at the ridge. It offers a splendid view of scenic spots in Mt. Lushan. No wonder numerous poets, scholars and tourists have been attracted by its beauty for so many years.
