Hanpo Entrance is located in the middle of Hanpo Peak, east valley of Mt. Lushan. It is the best location to watch the sunrise of Mt. Lushan.
Early in the morning, As the sun rises above the Poyang Lake, the whole mountain is bathed in brilliant morning light. Sunrays penetrate through clouds, the mountains and the river turns into a roll of Chinese freehand painting instantly. Hanpo Ridge resembling fish bones looks like a natural screen standing in the southeast of Mt. Lushan. Sometimes it looks like a galloping horse sometimes and a flying dragon. Hanpokou is just between Jiuqi Peak and Five Elderly Men Peak, opening its mouth and seems to swallow down Poyang Lake. This is the origin of Hanpokou.
There are four buildings on Poyang Ridge. In the south of the Ridge stands a stone archway with and four pillars and three gates, in the middle of which three characters(han po kou) are engraved. Two characters are engraved on each side of the archway: Hu Guang and San Se, which refers to the beautiful scenery at Hanpo Entrance. The archway is followed by a round pavilion with red pillars and green tiles. It is called Hanpo Pavilion .n the middle of the Ridges sets a rectangular pavilion called Wangpo Pavilion with splendid engraved pillars and beams. North of Wangpo Pavilion is Wanggui Pavilion. The group of buildings is the reflection of Chinese typical gardening. It is the combination of high and low profile, harmony between man and nature. Standing at the top of the Bridge, you can enjoy panoramic view of Mt. Lushan scenery, especially the gorgeous cloud seas and sunrise.
