Having introduced the history, consistence and main elements about Chinese garden, today I’d love to introduce the most famous imperial park in China as many China Travel Agencies recommended for people’s China trip.

The most famous imperial park in China is the Summer Palace, lying 15 kilometers northwest of Beijing. It is also the largest imperial park and being well preserved.

Featuring Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, the garden inherits the architectural traditions of past ages and adopts strong points of garden-building techniques from all parts of China. With the imposing manner of the North and the elegant taste of the South, the magnificence of the imperial palace and the delicacy of residential houses, the Summer Palace is known as a jewel of Chinese landscape architecture. So it is always included in many tourists’ China Tours’ plans.

The garden consists of three parts: the political activity area, the empress's living quarter and the scenic area which includes Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake. The groups of buildings, hills and lakes, together with the background of West Hills, give an ever changing scene.

Back Lake at the northern foot of Longevity Hill is natural and peaceful. On its bank is Suzhou Street, a replica of a commercial street in the old days. At the northeastern corner of the garden there is the Garden of Harmonious Interest which imitates the famous Jichang Garden in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. Diminutive and elegant, it is known as a garden within a garden.

Summer Palace is a must-visit place when you have China holidays. I believe you will have a great time visiting Summer Palace.
