Mutianyu Great Wall, featured “graceful”, enjoy the best quality among all Wall sections, 80km north-east of Beijing. It is encased by sprightly streams and lush greenery. Mutianyu Great Wall is older than Badaling Great Wall, it has 22 watchtowers, about one every kilometer. Built mainly with granite, it was opened to tourists on May Day in 1986, the second Great Wall site opened to tourists after Badaling. Mutianyu Great Wall passes through beautiful forested hills with streams. There is a cable car at Mutianyu to whisk you up onto the Great Wall. Underground Palace is the one of the Ming Tombs, named Dingling. It is the only one of the Ming Dynasty Tombs to have been excavated, which was unearthed between 1956 and 1958. The entire palace is made of stone. The Soul Tower forms the entrance to the underground chambers and is symbolic of Dingling.
You will be picked up from your hotel by tour guide and driver at 7:30-8:00AM.The guide will call you the day before and confirm the pick-up time with you. We will drive about 1.5 hours and get to the Ming Tombs. We will visit one of Tombs called Dingling, of which the underground palace has been unearthed and open to the public. We will spend 1.5 hours to learn the story behind the Tomb and appreciate the precious art crafts unearthed from the Tomb .A Chinese lunch (about an hour) will be arranged in a local restaurant. Then we will drive about 50 minutes to get to the highlight of our tour today: Mutianyu Great Wall. Mutianyu is a bit more rugged and slightly less crowded than the more famous Badaling. There are abundant natural springs which feed a great variety of plants and trees. Over 96% of Mutianyu is covered by trees and orchards, keeping the air fragrant with chestnut blossoms in the spring and fresh all year long. We will spend 2.5 hours on the Great Wall. The tour ends when you are dropped off at your hotel before 6:00PM.
