The gallery is located along picturesque Lotus Pond. It is first artist museum featuring porcelains in China and one of famous scenic spots in the Porcelain Capital. It was open to public in 1954.
The gallery has a collection of 19,000 pieces of porcelains made in different periods and dynasties, such as porcelains made in official kilns of Ming and Qing Dynasty, artist porcelains represented by Zhushan Eight Friends made in the period of Republic of China, porcelains made during Culture Revolution, and porcelains made by contemporary masters. Most of them enjoy high reputation at home and abroad. It serves as a window for people to get insight into splendid porcelain culture and significant achievements of Jingdezhen.
The gallery covers an area of 2,000 square meters and consists of two sections: ancient and modern times. The ancient section is displayed in the order of dynasties, while the modern section is displayed by categories of porcelains. For years, the gallery claim to be second to none with regard to the numbers, varieties and qualities of the porcelain collections.
