All Flowers Islet is composed of three islets in the center of East Lake. And it is extended to East Lake scenic area later on. East Lake is located in the downtown Nanchang, occupying an area of 13 hectares. The Lake has long been a beautiful area since Tang Dynasty. From Ming Dynasty on, the lack has been divided in to four sections, which are connected by the bridges in between: Zigzag Bridge, All Flower Bridge and Haicheng Riverbank. The historic sited includes Zhongshan Pavilion, All Flower Pavilion and Cultural Relics Square etc. It was the location for East Lack Academy, East Lake Association for Painting and Calligraphy and Nanchang Residence of Chiang Kai-shek.
Since Tang Dynasty, the celebrity and refined scholars have written many poems about All Flowers Islets: Li Sheng, Du Mu, Huang Tingjian, Xin Qiji, and Wen Tianxiang, to name a few.In Tang Dynasty, the willow were planted along the riverbank. Wavering willow with lotus blossoms on the surface of the Lake make a beautiful picture to look at. Li Sheng, a renowned poet in Tang Dynasty, wrote a poem about gorgeous scenery of the Islets.
In Song and Ming Dynasty, the Islets were getting well known. A dozen of pavilions and corridors were dotted on the islets. The whole islets looked like a Chinese free hand painting. Su Yunqing, a hermit in Song Dynasty, planted vegetables and flowers on the Islets. In Famous Yuzhang Top Ten sceneries, two could be found in All Flower Islets: East Lake Night Scene and Spring in Supu Garden. In Southern Song Dynasty, troop fighting on water used to drill on the lake. Famous Dramatist in Ming Dynasty, Tang Xianzu paid a visit to the Islets and wrote a poem about it .
The islets began to decline in Qing Dynasty. The original ancient architectures were destroyed and it was only used as examination hall.In1932, the Islets were mapped out as a park. In 1946, the park was renamed as Chiang Kai-shek Park. In 1950, the park changes its name to August 1st Park .After liberation, the government has made some renovations and reconstruction. The Islets is a place for relaxation and leisure for the visitors now.
