Located on the northern bank of the Yangtze River in eastern Chongqing, Wanzhou, with a history of 1,900 years, is a keypoint on the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River and a vital land and water communications hub in Chongqing. Wanzhou is at about the halfway point between Chongqing and Yichang, and has been an important river port for centuries. Since the construction of Three Gorges Dam, when the water level of the Yangtze River's Wanzhou section reached a height of 175.1 meters in June 2003, the southern half of Wanzhou has been submerged underwater, while a new city center that offers improved infrastructure for immigrants has been founded to the north of the old city center.
Among over 150 scenic spots, the Qinglong Waterfall is the most popular among the tourists. The Qinglong Waterfall with a width of 105 meters and height of 65 meters is praised as the most splendid waterfall in Asia. From miles away, the roaring sound can be heard as the war drum from the battle, while the flying waterfall shinning in the sun looks like a pure white scarf dancing in the wind, in the end of which water pearls drop down and splash out refreshing the air around. The most amazing part is the 2000 m2 wide cave in the end of the waterfall providing people a peaceful and cool resort.
Besides, the Dayakou Park and the Tanzhang Gorges are the popular spots as well, where various marvelous landscapes can be available. Put Wanzhou in your next expedition schedule to experience a different place where amazing happen.
