Drive from the city northward to a small village named Xinzhai, enjoy pretty countryside scenery along the way. The drive takes normally two and half hours. The driving roads then disappear and we start our 5-hour long hike from this village. Lunch will be a simple picnic on the half way. Stay overnight in a local farmer’s wood cottage in Jiuwu Village.
Departing from Jiuwu Village, we hike up and down hill for about 3 hours through the fantastic terraced rice paddy areas before lunch in Xiaozhai Village. It’s a beautiful Yao people’s village. Let’s have a break strolling around in the village after lunch. Then keep hiking to Dazhai village in about 1 hour. Stay overnight in a simple guesthouse in Dazhai village.
Hike for about 5-6 hours from Dazhai to Ping’an village. We pass through some Yao people’s villages, viewing rice paddy terraces and people working in there all the way. We will have a late lunch in Ping’an Village that is a Zhuang people’s village. (If hungry early, we can of course have an earlier lunch in a village before Ping’an.) Enjoy your free time in this exotic village before being picked up by our car in the late afternoon. Drive back to Guilin city .
