A Lu Ancient Cave

The Ancient A'lu Cave, Known as "the most wonderful cave in Yunnan", is located in the southeast part of Yunnan province ,200 kilometers away from Kunming. It is also called A’lu Origin Cave. The cave is a cluster of underground Karst landform caves. A'lu Cave is most magnificent natural cave in Asia.

A’lu is the word of Yi people. It is a said a tribe called " A’lu once lived in the caves, hence the name "the Ancient A'lu Cave”, in which there are various kinds of unique and natural scenes. Around A'lu Mountain are night peaks, beneath which 18 caves lie. A'lu Cave is the major cave, and consists of A’lu Origin Cave, Jade Pillar Cave, Green Jade Cave and Jade Stalagmite River as well. The cave is characterized by stalactites in various shapes, clear Underground River and zigzag long tunnels. It is a spectacular karst landform cave with 3000-metre-long passage accessible to the tourist.

A’lu Origin Cave
The spring located in the southern foot of the A'lu Mountain originated from this cave ,hence the name A’lu Origin Cave. It was inscribed by governor officials respectively in Song and Qing Dynasty, known as Wonder and Natural Stone Chamber. The cave is a hall with a length of more than 700 meters. Small halls are scattered in between, connected with narrow corridors, zigzagging like a maze.

Jade Pillar Cave
Getting out of the A’lu Origin Cave, you will enter Jade Pillar Cave ---a palace-shaped cave. The stalactite hangs from the ceiling like a exquisite curtain. Inside Jade Pillar Cave are 10 tiny caves with length ranging from 30 meters to 70 meters.

Jade Stalagmite River It is an underground river 15 meters below A'lu Origin Cave and Jade Pillar Cave. The river originates from Jade Pillar Cave. The water is crystal-clear and 0.8-3 meters deep. The river course is 8-12 meters wide. You will take a man-powered boat for sightseeing. In the 800-metre-long jade Stalagmite River, the transparent fish and the strange “stalagmite in the water" add the mystery to the ancient cave.

Green Jade Cave
Getting out of Jade Pillar Cave, walking along the path for about 350 meters, or taking the cable car, you will reach the entrance to Green Jade Cave, which is situated at the hillside of Jilong Mountain. The cave is named after the green stalactite inside. The cave stretches out like a deep valley, inside a big hall with a length of 720 meters. The most precious and magnificent items of A'lu Cave could be found in the cave including curved stone, A'lu Jade, stone shield (as wide as 20 sq meters), stone chime.

These vivid and beautiful sights in the huge cave show the great interest of lively nature and bring tourists imagination to the fullest play.
